Welcome to my very first blog!!
This has been created for your viewing pleasure, and my own personal mission to remember as much as possible of my upcoming 2010 Olympics experience.
I am so honoured to have been chosen to participate as a Gate Judge for the Ladies Alpine Skiing events. It is my job to cling for my life to the side of the mountain, keenly observe the racers zooming with "clear passage" through the gates (those are the red and blue poles the skiers whack out of the way as they fly down the hill), and document those who are disqualified by missing a gate, straddling a gate, or not finishing the course. I am one of 35 on the Ladies' Gate Judging Team.

There were 65,000 applicants for a huge variety of 25,000 volunteer positions, so it really is a privelege to have made it all the way through to the end of the process, which took almost a year to fully unfold.
I'll be in Whistler from next Sunday, February 7/10 - Wednesday, March 3/10, and making every attempt to get to a computer each day to document the experience. For now, it's time to get lots and lots of work done, both professionally and personally before I take off on Sunday!

Way to go Linda! We are so proud of you and look forward to hearing your first hand experiences as a volunteer at this year's Olympics.
